CONESTOGA CONFIRMS NEW BADMINTON HEAD COACH

Conestoga College Athletics & Recreation Department announces the hiring of Ron Taylor as the new Badminton Head Coach. In addition to coaching Softball at Conestoga, Ron is taking his expertise to badminton court as well this year.

Coach Taylor has an impressive Badminton CV, as a player he has won over 35 provincial titles competing in Mix Doubles, Men's Doubles and Men's Singles.

As a Coach, Taylor has held roles with the University of Waterloo and Ontario Winter games West Team earning a gold and silver medal in the role. He was also the head elite coach at the KW Granite Club, where he led his team to numerous Canadian Championships and helped shape the path of a future Olympian. Taylor rounds out his badminton experience with six US Open Badminton Double Championships as an assistant coach.

Associate Director of Sport and Recreation Andrew Bates on the recent appointment; "We're very excited to have Ron lead our badminton program for the 2022-23 Varsity season. As a trusted member of our coaching staff for the past six years as the Women's Softball Head Coach, Ron has demonstrated his commitment to student-athlete development. Ron brings with him years of provincial and national level badminton experience both as a player and coach, and our Conestoga badminton student-athletes will benefit from Ron's technical knowledge of the game."

With a new head coach, the Condors look to bring Badminton back for the first time since 2019-20.
