LOWRY SETS OCAA WOMEN’S SOFTBALL STRIKEOUT RECORD

TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) announced today that Morgan Lowry (Middlesex-Centre, Ont.) set a new women's softball single game record for most strikeouts.

The second-year Fanshawe Falcons hurler struck out 19 Conestoga Condors in a complete game 4-2 win on Sept. 24 in a game played in Windsor, Ont. Lowry was originally credited with 17, but following a game film review, was awarded the two additional strikeouts for the new OCAA record.

The previous record of 17 was originally set 22 years ago by Seneca's Debbie Wadsworth, and matched by Rebecca Cunningham of Seneca in 2009.

Lowry allowed two runs on two hits, walking none. The second-year hurler currently leads all of OCAA with 58 strikeouts, averaging over two per inning. Lowry's ERA is also near the top of the league at 1.22.

Lowry was named OCAA Women's Softball Rookie of the Year in 2019.
