OCAA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

TORONTO - The following student-athletes have been recognized by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) for their accomplishments during the seven-day period ending Sunday, Feb. 9.

Jade Addai
School: Toronto Mississauga
Program: Criminology
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Women's Basketball
Hometown: United Kingdom
Addai is the machine behind the UTM Eagles. In back-to-back road victories this past week against Loyalist and St. Lawrence, the third-year guard scored 51 total points. In UTM's 81-71 win at Loyalist on Feb. 7, Addai scored 20 points while contributing seven rebounds and four steals. The following day, she scored a game-high 31 points in a 71-66 win at St. Lawrence, the second time she has surpassed 30 points in a game this season. Addai leads the OCAA averaging 22.6 points per game, overall points (317), field goals (123-of-214) and field goal percentage (57.5).

Kingslee D'Silva
School: George Brown
Program: Business Administration
Year of Eligibility: 5
Sport: Men's Basketball
Hometown: Mississauga, Ont.
D'Silva experienced a career weekend for the George Brown Huskies. The veteran forward was very efficient shooting 21-of-32 (65.6 per cent) from the floor for 54 points while adding 13 rebounds, five steals and two blocks in George Brown's two road games. D'Silva posted a game-high 22 points, six rebounds and two steals in a narrow 75-72 loss to St. Lawrence on Feb. 7. Less than 24 hours later, he followed this effort up by dropping a career-high 32 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks in a 99-93 double-overtime loss at Loyalist.

Andrew Dube
School: Durham
Program: Massage Therapy
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Men's Volleyball
Hometown: Uxbridge, Ont.
Dube was an absolute force for Durham in its thrilling five set come-from-behind victory over Loyalist on Feb. 5. Dube produced a career night, recording a new single-match career-best 23 total points and career-high 21 kills en route to the road win. In addition to his spectacular offensive output, the powerful outside hitter also led the team defensively with a team-high 10 digs, showcasing his impressive all-around game. Dube currently leads the Lords averaging 4.3 points per set, while ranking third in the OCAA in both kills per set (3.88) and hitting percentage (.378).

Kendra Oliver
School: Durham
Program: Trade Fundamentals
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Women's Basketball
Hometown: Ajax, Ont.
Oliver continued her outstanding rookie campaign with two more solid performances in back-to-back wins for Durham this past week. The rebounding machine opened the week with her fifth 20-plus point outing of the season, registering a game-high 23 points and 18 rebounds en route to a 76-37 win versus Seneca on Feb. 4. Oliver followed this up with a game-high 18 points and 14 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season, while adding two assists, four steals, and a block to her overall stat line in Durham's 75-46 win over Centennial on Feb. 7.

Sam Otten
School: Niagara
Program: Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management
Year of Eligibility: 5
Sport: Men's Volleyball
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Otten had an incredible week of play in two matches this week against Redeemer and Sheridan, tallying 42 total points with a .449 attack efficiency. In Niagara's four-set victory over Redeemer on Feb. 6, Otten tallied a match-high 23 kills while adding a service ace for a 24-point effort. On Feb. 9 at Sheridan, the fifth-year outside hitter recorded match-highs in points (18), kills (13) and blocks (3) in a three-set victory. He also added a pair of service aces. Otten currently sits fourth among OCAA stats leaders averaging 4.8 points per set.

Sierra Peck
School: Algonquin
Program: Office Administration
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Women's Basketball
Hometown: Prince Edward County, Ont.
Peck had another solid outing for Algonquin on Feb. 8, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 94-32 win over Georgian. Peck is averaging 11.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game and is a big part of Algonquin's success, as she has been doing since joining the Thunder three years ago. She is hitting more than half her shots this season and is currently sitting in second place among OCAA athletes with a 54.6 per cent field goal average. She also plays lock down defence in the post and helps set the tone for Algonquin in that regard.
