Edwin Der Weer

Der Weer had a record-setting day on Sept. 14, combining to go 7-for-10 at the plate, including a pair of doubles, in a doubleheader sweep of Durham. The second baseman scored seven times, and drove in four runs. More importantly, Der Weer established a new OCAA single-game record becoming the first player to score five times in one game in Seneca's 18-17 victory. He was also part of another milestone, as the two teams combined for 35 runs, another new OCAA single-game record easily surpassing the old mark of 27. Seneca is 4-0 for the first time in program history.
Carter Free
School: St. Clair
Program: Protection, Security & Investigation
Year of Eligibility: 1
Sport: Cross Country
Hometown: Napanee, Ont.
The reigning provincial and national champion St. Clair men's team hosted the opening event of the OCAA cross country season on its home course at Windsor's Malden Park on Sept. 14. The Saints were led by Free, an outstanding rookie runner, who bested the field by 37 seconds in a time of 25:42 over the very difficult eight kilometre course. As a team, the St. Clair men won the event on the strength of three runners placing in the top four. With the OCAA Cross Country Championships on his home course next month, it bodes very well for Free and his St. Clair teammates.
Melissa Gilligan

Year of Eligibility: 2
Sport: Women's Soccer
Hometown: Cornwall, Ont.
Gilligan was outstanding for St. Lawrence this past weekend and was a key contributor in two home victories. The second-year striker scored five goals, including a hat trick, in St. Lawrence's 6-0 win over Cambrian on Sept. 14. She added a pair of goals the following day in a 5-1 win over Sault. The former All-Canadian led the OCAA East Division in scoring in 2017 with 17 goals. The Vikings are undefeated at 2-0-1 as they hit the road for three straight matches to conclude the month of September. Their first trip is to Fleming on Saturday.
Sophie Glanz
School: Toronto Mississauga
Program: Medicine
Year of Eligibility: 3
Sport: Cross Country
Hometown: Windsor, Ont.
Returning to her hometown of Windsor, Glanz showed off her winter training by handily winning the first OCAA women's cross country race of the year in a six kilometre time of 23:47. A two-time member of OCAA All-Ontario First-Team, Glanz performed her race plan perfectly finishing within five seconds of her goal time. She helped lead her Eagles teammates to the women's team title. Pacing a tough, five hill course, Glanz's 2,500 kilometres of training this year, most of which she starts before 6 a.m., worked to her advantage. Glanz showed she's ready and put the OCAA field on notice.
Ty Jacob

Year of Eligibility: 4
Sport: Men's Rugby
Hometown: Courtice, Ont.
Jacob was instrumental in Durham's season opening men's rugby victory in Kingston on Sept. 14. A 2018 OCAA League All-Star, Jacob picked up right where he left off last season, scoring two tries and kicking four successful converts for a match-high 18 points in Durham's 28-10 victory at St. Lawrence. The powerful and speedy centre scored five tries and kicked three converts last season as Durham captured the OCAA championship. Since losing to St. Lawrence to open the 2018 season, Durham has won eight straight OCAA matches.

Over the week, Muir threw 21 innings, allowing two earned runs on 10 hits while striking out 15 batters. Her ERA is currently an even 1.00.
