ROBERTSON HEADLINES OCAA GOLF AWARDS

KOMOKA, Ont. - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association handed out its annual golf awards at the conclusion of the 2018 OCAA Golf Championships at the FireRock Golf Club in Komoka, Ont. on Wednesday.

Fanshawe's Colin Robertson was named OCAA Coach of the Year. Robertson saw two of his golfers go wire-to-wire to win the men's and women's individual titles at the 2018 provincials, a first for the program. Fanshawe won the women's team title for the first time in its history, and its men's team silver is the best finish for the school since 1992.

Robertson has been teaching in the Golf and Club Management program at Fanshawe College for the past seven years and has made it a personal goal to grow the program into the best in the country. Under his direction, Fanshawe has installed two state of the art golf simulators across two different campuses for the purpose of training its student-athletes, and students alike. He has also created the Robertson Golf Academy to help his students improve their golf and goals. Robertson is currently studying for a Master's Degree in Leadership at the University of Guelph.

Fanshawe's Alyssa Stoddart (Orangeville) and Braydon White (Barrie) will receive Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association All-Canadian awards later this month. Both golfers won their respective OCAA championships by six strokes. Stoddart was also the top OCAA golfer in four lead-in tournaments to provincials. White was the only golfer to shoot par for the championship.

Humber's Cameron Griffin (Burlington) and Hayley McCallum (Mississauga) are also All-Canadians. Griffin finished in a tie for second behind White, leading Humber to the men's team title for a second straight season. McCallum took the women's individual silver medal behind Stoddart.

Fanshawe's Bradley Byers (Oakville) received the OCAA Fair Play Award for his integrity during the provincials.
