NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's golf team completed a successful tournament on Wednesday by claiming OCAA team silver at the OCAA championship. The championship was hosted by Niagara College at Legends on the Niagara Battlefield Course from Oct. 3-5.
The women ended the event with a three-day total of 504. Three golfers play each day with the best two scores counting.
Shannon Coffey (Windsor; FJ Brennan) was the top Saint finishing in fourth-place overall and earning OCAA all-star honours. Her three-day total was 32 over and she tied for the low round of the day in the final round with a 78.
Sophia Fallea (LaSalle; Villanova) finished in seventh place while Megan Schaafsma (Essex; Essex District) ended up in eighth place.
All three women qualified for the CCAA championships which are being hosting by Durham College from Oct.17-21 at Deer Creek Golf Club in Ajax, Ont.
The Saints men ended the event in sixth place as a team only one spot out of qualifying for nationals. Five players play for each team with the best four scores counting each day. Rookie John Van Bilsen (Glencoe; Glencoe District) led the way for the Saints finishing in 11th place overall with a three-day total of 15 over par.
The Saints are coached by head coach Kevin Corriveau and assistant coach Katelin Lawson.
