OCAA ANNOUNCES MEN’S RUGBY SCHEDULE FOR 2021 SEASON

TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) announced today the 2021 regular season men's rugby schedule, set to begin on Saturday, Sept. 25.

OCAA MEN'S RUGBY REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE

KEY DATES

Regular Season End Date: Saturday, Oct. 9
Quarter-Final Playoff Dates: Saturday, Oct. 23 or Sunday, Oct. 24
Semi-Final Playoff Dates: Saturday, Oct. 30 or Sunday, Oct. 31

MEN'S RUGBY DIVISIONS
WEST EAST
Georgian (Barrie) Durham (Oshawa)
Humber (Etobicoke) Fleming (Peterborough)
Mohawk (Hamilton) St. Lawrence (Kingston)
Sheridan (Oakville) Seneca (North York)

Schools will play a condensed schedule as the league remains divided in a traditional East-West format. All teams will play a single-round robin within its division totalling three (3) regular season matches. To ensure a fourth game for everyone, all teams will make the post-season in 2021.

The entire regular season schedule will take place over three separate weekends in the fall. The season debuts with four matches on Saturday, Sept. 25, including the two-time reigning OCAA champion Durham Lords (Oshawa) visiting the St. Lawrence Surge (Kingston).

As the calendar flips months, Week 2 is highlighted by a rematch on Saturday, Oct. 3 of a 2019 semi-final as the Georgian Grizzlies (Barrie) entertain the Humber Hawks (Etobicoke), the reigning OCAA silver and bronze medalists, respectively. The regular season concludes one week later with four final games on Saturday, Oct. 9 for a pre-Thanksgiving appetizer.

The quarter-finals will introduce interdivisional play, as the first-place teams host the opposite fourth seeds, while the third seed visits the second from the opposite division. The victors will then advance to the semi-finals the following week. The winning semi-final teams will battle for the OCAA championship, while the losing teams will compete for the OCAA bronze medal.

All OCAA schedules for the 2021-22 season, including dates, times and locations, are subject to change.

The finishing touches are being made to the Women's Rugby Sevens regular season schedule and will be announced later this summer.
