BECK HEADLINES OCAA MEN'S RUGBY AWARDS

Durham College's Brendyn Beck (Port Hope) is the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Rugby Player of the Year.

The OCAA League Scoring Champion led all OCAA players with 53 points scored on seven tries and nine converts in four matches during the regular season. The second-year back row accounted for almost 21 percent of all of Durham's points this season. Beck is also an OCAA League All-Star.

Durham teammate Tyler Janes (Pickering) is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. The wing was third in OCAA scoring, contributing two tries and 15 converts totalling 40 points in three matches.

Johnny Watkins of Durham is the OCAA Coach of the Year. Durham won all four of its matches en route to the 2022 regular season crown, scoring a league-high 254 points while allowing the fewest points against (32).

In addition to Beck, OCAA League All-Stars include Patrick Lynch (Oshawa), Jack MacIntosh (Whitby) and James Stockwood (Bowmanville) of Durham; Jesse Pustai (Whitby), Rob Reiners (Ilderton) and James-Robb Kennedy (Barrie) of Georgian College; Abbas Popal (Toronto) and Timico Smith (Mississauga) of Humber College; Sam Meindl (Trenton), Zak Raymond (Kingston) and Evan Sim-Spence (Kingston) of St. Lawrence College; Simeon Charles (Saint Lucia) of Seneca College; and Quintin Kleppe (Rockwood) and Tafara Muzamhindo (Zimbabwe) of Sheridan College.
