OCAA REALIGNS DIVISIONAL STRUCTURE FOR OUTDOOR SOCCER

OCAA REALIGNS DIVISIONAL STRUCTURE FOR OUTDOOR SOCCER

TORONTO - With the addition of Sault College in men's and women's outdoor soccer, the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) will change its league structure for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

The league will move from a three-division format to two divisions. Algonquin, Centennial, Durham, Fleming, Loyalist (women only), St. Lawrence and Seneca will remain in the East Division and will be joined by former Central Division members Cambrian and George Brown along with newcomer Sault.

Fanshawe, Lambton, Mohawk, Niagara, Redeemer and St. Clair will be joined in the West Division by former Central Division members Conestoga, Humber, Sheridan and Toronto Mississauga.

Teams will play a single round robin format within their divisions totalling nine matches (eight in the men's East Division due to one less team). There is no interdivisional play during the regular season.

Championship hosts Fleming (men) and Redeemer (women) still earn an automatic berth to the quarter-finals. The top seven remaining teams in each division will play opponents from the opposite division in an interdivisional sudden death playoff to determine the remaining berths at the respective championships. These are seeded according to team positions in the final standings.

The regular season schedules for men's and women's soccer will be announced at the end of June.
