Walker, a first-year catcher, gave a young Mohawk Mountaineers women's softball team a needed offensive boost. In half a dozen games last week, Walker had a .500 batting average, scoring two runs and driving in a pair. She went 10-for-20, including a pair of doubles. Walker also stole a couple of bases for good measure. More importantly, Mohawk picked up its first two wins of the season in a doubleheader sweep of Seneca on Sept. 29, and narrowly missed a third in a 7-6 defeat against Conestoga on Oct. 2. Walker is the team leader with 15 hits and a .417 batting average.
