Paredes took part in the Fanshawe Invitational on Oct. 1 aiming to show that the Conestoga Condors had what it takes to place as a team. Instead of thinking of individual or team results, however, Paredes chose to assist a fellow student-athlete who had fallen and needed medical attention. Paredes sacrificed over one minute of race time to ensure the medical team were aware and helped them get to the athlete as soon as possible. Paredes went on to finish the race and proceeded to return to the athlete to make sure they were all right. Character speaks volumes.
