Falcons Split Games Versus Seneca

(London, Ontario) – On Thursday evening at Stronach Park, the Fanshawe Softball team (6-6) shut out the Seneca Sting (3-11) 9-0 in game one before dropping game two 12-6.

 

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Falcons had an outstanding opening inning, scoring 7 RBIs. Both Paige Askew (London, ON) and Sara Reading (Listowel, ON) recorded RBI singles in the inning, while teammates Courtney Mayer (London, ON) and Kamryn Lamond (Tavistock, ON) both recorded doubles resulting in Fanshawe points. The Falcons would add two more to their point tally to go on to win 9-0. Morgan Lowry (Middlesex-Centre) moved to 5-1 on the season, adding 11 strikeouts to her count. Lowry currently leads the OCAA in strikeouts with 80.

 

The second game of the night saw Seneca come back strong. The Sting took advantage of Fanshawe errors and scored 7 first inning runs to take an early lead on the red and white. By the third inning, Seneca extended their lead to 11-3 and unfortunately the Falcons could not recover from the early deficit. Fanshawe dropped game two by a final score of 12-6. Jordan Hughes (3-5) was the winning pitcher for Seneca and Fanshawe's Julia Smith (1-5) took the loss.

 

Next up, the Falcons will travel to St. Clair (16-0) to face the undefeated Saints on Wednesday, October 13.
