Knights Back in the Win Column with 60-51 win over Lambton Lions

February 28, 2022 - The Niagara Knights women's basketball team bounced back from their loss on Saturday afternoon to with a 60-51 win over the Lambton Lions. 

The blue and white came out red hot to start the first quarter with a 14-0 lead through the first five minutes, promoting the Lions to call a timeout in attempt to stop the run. The Knights finished the first frame up 20-12 over the visiting Lions.

The second quarter saw the Lions start to chip away at the Knights lead and eventually evening things up just before the half time buzzer at 29-29. In the final four seconds Niagara's Lexxus Bell managed to grab her own rebound off a three point attempt and drop in a layup to send the Knights into the half with a 31-29 lead.

Niagara managed to maintain the lead through the third and fourth quarters with Lambton never far behind them. Midway through the fourth the Knights started to pull away with the lead, eventually putting a 10 point distance between them and the Lions.

Bell netted 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights while Terin Hultink chipped in with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Janee Harrison also was big on the boards pulling down 13 rebounds. 

The Knights went on the record their 6th win of the 2022 season, putting them at 6-1 and remaining in the third spot for the second week in a row in the OCAA Rankings.

Niagara will wrap up their regular season this week at home against Fanshawe Friday night. Fanshawe will return to the Knights home venue after they took a thumping from the Knights on Feb 18th, 52-36.
