OSHAWA, ON - Hosting the Mohawk Mountaineers in a Monday evening doubleheader to make up two previously rained out contests, the Durham Lords women's softball team picked up two decisive wins to finish the regular season, defeating the visitors 13-1 and 14-0.
Highlighting the final games played at Durham Field as part of the 2021 campaign was first-year pitcher
Morgan Salter (Battersea, ON) who delivered a no-hitter in the second game of the doubleheader. Facing 16 Mohawk batters, Salter striked out more than half with nine strikeouts through 4.1 innings pitched in the mercy-shortened contest.
In addition to Salter's momentous achievement in the circle, the Lords were also sensational at the plate, racking up 29 total hits and 27 total runs in the two games combined. 11 different DC batters picked up a hit in the doubleheader to end the season on a high.
The Lords will next head to Windsor to compete at the 2021 OCAA softball championship, hosted by St. Clair College from Oct. 21-23.
