Women's Softball Prevail in Kitchener to go 10-0

Kitchener, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team won by scores of 12-1 and 10-0 over Conestoga College (Kitchener) in mercy shortened fashion at Budd Park Sunday afternoon to keep their unblemished OCAA record a perfect 10-0. 

Judy Lafleur (Essex, ON/Essex), Rya Cowan (LaSalle, ON/Sandwich) and Allison Dufour (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) each had two hits in the opening game win for the Saints.  Lafleur and Dufour each also contributed two RBI's at the plate while Dufour was credited with the pitching win with three innings of work giving up four hits and a walk and striking out two batters.  St. Clair used a 7-run 2nd inning to break the game open adding four runs in the 4th before a single in the 5th to preserve the five-inning mercy. 

In game two the Saints pounded 16 hits and only surrendering two between starter Amy Claydon (Cambridge, ON) and reliever Cowan.  Claydon took the win with three innings of mastery striking out three batters with just a single hit against.  Cowan was equally adept giving up just a lone baserunner to a hit.  Paige Ulman (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) and Jacklyn Yewchyn (Windsor, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) each had three hits and two RBI's in the game with Claydon helping her cause smacking four hits including a homerun and a double to go with two RBI's. 

St. Clair continues its OCAA regular season with a full weekend starting in Markham Friday night against Seneca College (North York) and then swinging through Oshawa to take on Durham College Saturday afternoon.  The busy weekend finishes at home on Sunday against Mohawk College (Hamilton) with a doubleheader at the SportsPark with game times of 2:00 and 4:00pm.
