The Redeemer Royals Women's Basketball team tipped off their season tonight against the Sheridan Bruins.

The Women's team, despite coming into the match with only 7 players due to several key injuries, came out strong leading for the first quarter. The Royals continued pressure throughout the entirety of the back-and-forth battle, but were unable to overcome the Bruins for the victory with a close final score of 65 – 69.

The Royals were led by 3
rd year guard
Jessica Angelini (Hamilton, ON) who contributed a double-double with 19 total points and 10 rebounds. Angelini's performance was backed by both
Karyn TeBrake (Ottawa, ON) and
Stephanie Findlay (Oakville, ON). Tebrake contributed 15 total points and 9 rebounds, while
Stephanie Findlay led the team defensively recording the teams second double-double of the night on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Rookie
Avery Cline, also contributed 10 points for the Royals.

Danyelle Campbell had a game-high 17 points for Sheridan.

After falling behind 26-36 at the half, the Royals came out in the third quarter strong to battle back to a score of 50 – 52. The remainder of the game continued seeing the Royals climb back to a score of 60 – 61 with just under 3 minutes left. In the end the Royals could not hold off the Bruins in the fourth quarter as a result of a few key turnovers.

The Royals will look to get in the win column this Saturday against the Mohawk Mountaineers.
