Lords make quick work of Coyotes

OTTAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team made it back-to-back wins in Ottawa to open the 2019-20 season after defeating the La Cite Coyotes in straight sets on Sunday afternoon. Set scores were 25-12, 25-19, 25-20.

13 Lords players saw time on the court in the early season win with six of those players recording five or more points.
 
Durham will now return home to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre where they will challenge the Loyalist Lancers in their 2019-20 home opener on Thursday, Oct. 24. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the game being streamed on OCAA LIVE.
  • Veteran team captain Jessica Joensen (Newcastle, Ont.) led the way in the teams second match in as many days, scoring 10 points from eight kills and two aces.
• 2018-19 OCAA all-rookie Pasha Ormerod (Terrace, B.C.) tallied eight points with five kills and three aces, while Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen, Ont.) and Haley Bickell (Winnipeg, Man.) each added six points.
• Melissa Petrin led the Coyotes with eight points in the loss from four kills and four aces.
  • After registering a game-high 18 digs the day piror, Lords libero Devyn Fraser (Uxbridge, Ont.) provided another game-high 10 digs defensively.
Georgi Williams (Whitby, Ont.) continued to guide the DC offence with 18 assists, adding three digs.
• La Cite player Sofie Leduc match Fraser with a game-high 10 digs in the three set match.
