Rachel Guanzon (Guelph, ON) had a career game versus the No. 11 nationally ranked Lambton Lions, scoring a personal high 30 points on eight made threes.
The Mohawk Mountaineers would lose the game to the Lions 89-71.
Head coach Mihai Raducanu credited Guanzon's preparation.
"She's always ready and as a senior player, we need that from her. I think she energizes the girls when she's scoring like that," said Raducanu.
Mohawk hung around Lambton early, but a second quarter that saw the Mountaineers struggle offensively was the ultimate difference maker.
Despite the loss, Raducanu was impressed with his team's effort and attributed the loss to a few mistakes made throughout the game.
"I thought we started well and came out with high energy," Raducanu said. "It continued in the second half but there were just a few lapses and that will cost you in the end against a team like Lambton."
The Mountaineers now play their next two games on the road, beginning with a matchup against the Sheridan Bruins on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.
