The season has come to a close for Mountaineers softball following two losses to the Durham Lords, 13-1 and 14-0.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Lords jumped out in front 8-0 in the first three innings.

A fielder's choice in the fourth inning off the bat of Hope General cashed in Katie Ross to give the Mountaineers their lone run.

Madison Young had a 2-for-2 game at the plate for Mohawk, while Olivia Thompson and Emma Harker added a hit a piece.

In the second game, the Falcons successfully scored in all five innings leading to their victory.

"We hit the ball hard, especially in the first game," said Mountaineers head coach Erin Forman.

She was impressed with her team's ability to stay together throughout both games.

"They're a really close-knit team and we were just coming to finish our season the best way we could and I think we did that," Forman said.

Mohawk caps off the 2021/22 season with a 2-16 record.
