Season Preview: 2021 Humber Men’s Soccer

The Humber men's soccer program begins its provincial title defence on Sept. 17, opening the season on the road at George Brown. Kick-off for the game is set for 8:30 p.m.

2019 Highlights
  • The Hawks captured their second straight provincial title – eighth since 2010 – defeating Fanshawe, 3-0.
  • It was the first time in the Coach Aquino era that the Hawks did not win the regular-season division title.
  • Humber earned a playoff berth for the 27th consecutive season.
  • Humber's defence allowed a league-low seven goals-against and was named the top defensive team in the west division.
At the Helm

Head coach Michael Aquino returns for his eighth season, leading the Hawks to four national titles since 2013. Coach Aquino will begin the '21 campaign with a career record of 88-8-7 (.888).  Alessandro Sabatini, Jason Mesa, Dominic Ientile, and Ricardo Fonseca all return for another season on Coach Aquino's staff.

All-Canada

Striker Leaford Allen returns for his second season with the Hawks. In 2019 he became the seventh CCAA All-Canadian winner in program history after he scored 14 goals in nine matches – the third-most in program history.

Bling Bling

Three-time national champions Karman Singh and Marcos Nunes return for the 2021 season. In 2016 Singh became the third keeper in Humber's history to not allow a goal at the CCAA championship tournament. He's tied second all-time with nine postseason clean sheets.

In 18 career postseason matches, Marcos Nunes has recorded a program-best 20 goals, including nine on the national stage.

Big Names

Humber soccer signed two high-profile recruits, both with international experience for Canada Soccer. Former TFC II star Luca Uccello will man the midfield for the Hawks, while former Glasgow Rangers player Luca Gasparotto will solidify Humber's defensive unit.

Watch Live

Humber's home opener will be on Sept. 22 against the Seneca Sting at the Ontario Soccer Centre. All three Humber home games will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
