TECUMSEH, Ont. - The St. Clair men's baseball team ran their OCAA unbeaten streak to 30 games and finished the 2015 regular season a perfect 20-0 after a doubleheader sweep of Seneca College (North York) at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh, Ont., on Sunday afternoon.
St. Clair bested Seneca by scores of 7-0 and 9-8 this afternoon to complete a historic season. Teiden Frias (Panama City, Panama) was nearly unhittable in the first contest allowing just two hits for a complete game shutout while striking out 12 batters.
In Game 2 the Saints held a comfortable 5-1 lead in the fourth inning before allowing the tying (fifth inning) and go-ahead runs and were staring at a 6-5 deficit in the sixth inning. The Saints, however, rallied for four runs in bottom of the sixth and managed to survive the seventh where the tying run was aboard.
With today's wins the Saints became the first men's baseball team to record an undefeated season and haven't lost to an OCAA opponent since Sept. 20, 2014.
The Saints men's baseball team host the University of Windsor Club team on Tuesday in an exhibition game at Lacasse Park starting at 7 p.m. This will be their final tune-up for the OCAA provincial championship tournament which is being hosted by Fanshawe College at London's historic Labatt Park Oct. 23-24 where St. Clair will be the top seed.
