MOVEMENT ATOP OCAA GOLF LEADERBOARD HIGHLIGHTS DAY 2

WINDSOR, Ont. - Thirty-six holes are now in the books at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Championships with the final 18 set for Wednesday.

Fog at the Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor, Ont., delayed the start of Day 2 on Tuesday morning, but when play commenced, Ben Landers (Delaware) of the Fanshawe Falcons shot a tournament-low four-under 67 to take a one-stroke lead over Daniel Talmage (Toronto) of the Humber Hawks, who fired a one-under 70 on the day.

Humber's Matt Morris (St. Catharines) shot a two-under 69 on Tuesday to climb into the bronze medal position, three strokes off the pace. Teammate Ryan Holwell (St. John's, Nfld.), who was the clubhouse leader after Day 1, has fallen into a three-way tie for fourth place after shooting 76. Jack Gill (Amherstview) of the St. Lawrence Surge was a fourth golfer to shoot under par in the middle round with a 69.

Humber has a commanding lead in the men's team competition, shooting three-under as a unit. The Hawks lead the Falcons by 23 strokes, with the host St. Clair Saints in third place at plus-30.

Two-time OCAA and defending national champion Hayley McCallum (Mississauga) of Humber climbed to the top of the women's leaderboard with a round of 77, and is now two strokes ahead of Day 1 leader Bryden Dilley (Barrie) of the Georgian Grizzlies. Defending OCAA gold medalist Madison Ouellette (Amaranth) still sits in the bronze position, five strokes behind McCallum. Humber leads the women's team competition by 17 strokes over St. Clair.

The scheduled 54-hole tournament runs through Wednesday. Golfers represent 10 Ontario college campuses, including Confederation, Durham, Fanshawe, Georgian, Humber, Loyalist, Niagara, St. Clair, St. Lawrence and Sault.

The tournament consists of three 18-hole rounds, weather permitting. The men's and women's player posting the lowest gross score through 54 holes will earn their respective individual championship.

Men's teams consist of four or five golfers, with the top four individual scores of each round contributing to the total team score. Women's teams consist of two or three golfers, with the top two individual scores of each round contributing to their total score. Schools with the lowest aggregate of gross scores after 54 holes win the respective team titles.
