TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) proudly recognizes Humber College men's basketball student-athlete DeQuon Cascart (North York, Ont.) as its 2021-22 OCAA Male Athlete of the Year.

The reigning OCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Year was among the OCAA league leaders averaging 21.5 points per game, scoring 172 points in eight regular season games. The fifth-year guard also contributed 38 rebounds, 32 assists and 11 steals.

Cascart scored 13 points in a 87-70 win over St. Clair which brought the provincial title back to Humber. Cascart was honoured as a OCAA Championship All-Star.

Humber then played host to the 2022 CCAA Men's Basketball National Championship, where Cascart averaged 22 points in three contests. He scored 19 points in each of Humber's first two games, then in a rematch of the OCAA gold medal game, Cascart scored 28 points, shooting 6-of-11 beyond the three-point arc, as Humber defeated St. Clair 101-94 to win its first national title in six seasons and go undefeated in 2022. Cascart was named Player of the Game as well as CCAA Championship MVP.

Cascart scored 933 regular season points in five OCAA seasons with the Humber Hawks. He is a five-time OCAA medalist with one gold, three silvers and a bronze. Cascart is also a three-time CCAA medalist with a complete set of gold, silver and bronze medallions.

Cascart is the first Humber men's basketball student-athlete to be recognized as OCAA Male Athlete of the Year. He is the third Humber student-athlete to win the award, joining Mike Silva (2001-02) and Jesse Assing (2015-16).
