FOURIE HEADLINES OCAA MEN'S RUGBY AWARDS

TORONTO - St. Lawrence College's Hanno Fourie (Mill Bay, B.C.) is the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Rugby Player of the Year.

The second-year student-athlete was the pinnacle of the Surge defence this season, and is an outstanding leader on and off the field. Fourie recorded over 65 tackles during the regular season. Fourie is also the East Division Player of the Year and headlines the East Division League All-Stars.

Tarik Pacha (Guelph) of Conestoga College is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. Pacha scored three tries in five regular season matches and as a first-year player is very accurate at line out time and dominant in scrums. Pacha is also the West Division Rookie of the Year and is also a West Division League All-Star.

Johnny Watkins of Durham College is the OCAA Coach of the Year. Watkins led the Lords to an East Division title with a perfect 5-0 record. Durham led all teams with 224 points scored, while allowing a league-low 31 points against. Watkins is also the East Division Coach of the Year.

Chukwuma is also an East Division League All-Star.

Joshua Van Horne of Conestoga is the West Division Coach of the Year. The Condors returned to OCAA men's rugby for the first time since 2019 and immediately earned respect with a 2-3 record, clinching a playoff berth. Each of Conestoga's three losses were by five points or fewer.
