GEORGIAN'S ANG HEADLINES OCAA MEN'S VOLLEYBALL AWARDS

TORONTO - Kenneth Ang (Edmonton, Alta.) of Georgian College is the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Volleyball Player of the Year.

The second-year setter led all OCAA players averaging 9.93 assists per set, quarterbacking the Georgian Grizzlies to a 16-2 regular season record and an East Division championship. Playing in all 18 matches, Ang was sixth in total assists with 536. Also named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian, the East Division Player of the Year headlines the East Division First-Team All-Stars.

Kale Wilkinson (Windsor) of St. Clair College is the West Division Player of the Year. The second-year outside hitter is the West Division Scoring Champion having averaged 4.6 points per set on an OCAA-high 265 kills, 23 service aces and 19 blocks totalling a league-best 307 points in 17 matches. Also named a CCAA All-Canadian, Wilkinson headlines the West Division First-Team All-Stars.

Sven Trodel (Sudbury) of Cambrian College is also a CCAA All-Canadian. The fourth-year outside hitter was among the league leaders averaging 4.1 points per set on 186 kills, 23 blocks and five service aces for 214 points in 14 matches, leading the Golden Shield to a 12-6 regular season record. Trodel is also a West Division First-Team All-Star.

Georgian's Tyrell Belgrove (Markham) is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. The outside hitter contributed 3.4 points per set in 18 matches with 145 kills, 20 blocks, 16 service aces totalling 181 points. The East Division Rookie of the Year headlines the East Division All-Rookie Team.

Shawn Reaume of St. Clair College is the OCAA Coach of the Year. The Saints clinched a first-ever first-round home playoff match with a 13-5 regular season record, good for third place in the West Division. It marked a five-win improvement from last season. The West Division Coach of the Year is also the nominee for CCAA Coach of the Year.

St. Clair's Arthur Richard (Woodstock) is the West Division Rookie of the Year. The outside hitter led the OCAA with 35 service aces in 17 regular season matches. Richard averaged 3.1 points per set, recording 158 kills and five blocks for 198 total points. Richard headlines the West Division All-Rookie Team.

Luke Sim of George Brown College is the East Division Coach of the Year. The Huskies were one of the most improved teams with a 11-7 regular season record, improving on a 3-15 mark a season ago. The Huskies went from ninth to fourth in the East Division, clinching a home playoff berth.

Gianluca Righetto (Mexico) of Centennial College is the East Division Scoring Champion. The second-year left side averaged 4.6 points per set in 17 matches with 222 kills, 31 blocks and 21 service aces totalling 274 points. Righetto is also an East Division First-Team All-Star.

In addition to Ang and Righetto, OCAA East Division First-Team All-Stars include Jeff Commerford (Peterborough) and Connor Finnie (Ottawa) of Algonquin College; Liam Ludlow (Barrie) of Georgian; and Jaeson Bernal (Scarborough) and Khaled Bryant (Toronto) of Seneca Polytechnic.

Joining Wilkinson and Trodel as OCAA West Division First-Team All-Stars are Eric Chien (Mississauga), Daven Ho (Toronto) and Walker Kalin (Kitchener) of West Division champion Conestoga College; Jayden Crowther (London) of Fanshawe College; and Maximum Crowder (Sudbury) of Humber College.

The OCAA East Division Second-Team All-Stars include Pras Jeyapalasingham (Ottawa) and Jacob Matheson (Ottawa) of Algonquin; Sam Deschenes (Ottawa) of Fleming College; David Froebel (Vandorf) and Kobe John (Grenada) of George Brown; Ethan Eiselt-Rolfe (Barrie) of Georgian; Liam Hill (Stratford) of Loyalist College; and Peter Ostranski-Ayles (Toronto) of Seneca.

Marcus Ahmadzai (Brampton) of Conestoga; Tanner Paterson (Baden) of Fanshawe; Marcus Morgan (Fort Erie) of Humber; Turner Neame (Hamilton) of Mohawk College; Caleb Joosse (Peterborough) of Redeemer University; and Jonah Certossi (Belle River) and Nick Kwiatkowski (Essex) of St. Clair make up the West Division Second-Team All-Stars.

Joining Belgrove on the East Division All-Rookie Team are Liam Callaghan (Kingston) of Canadore College; Michael Matsuto (Sinko) of Centennial; Froebel of George Brown; Hill of Loyalist; and Bryant of Seneca.



In addition to Richard, members of the East Division All-Rookie Team include Liam Hansen (Perth) of Cambrian; Alex Jurak (St. Catharines) of Mohawk; Matthew Takacs (Woodstock) of Niagara College; and Jack Demik (Hamilton) and Jonah Heidburt (Hamilton) of Redeemer.
