SENECA HOSTS OCAA WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

KING CITY, Ont. - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) is down to its final four in women's volleyball, with all remaining teams headed to the campus of Seneca Polytechnic in King City, Ont., for the OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship.

The top teams from each division during the regular season have survived two elimination rounds to make it to King City. This includes the East Division champion Seneca Sting and the undefeated West Division champion Humber Hawks. Joining these two are a pair of teams from the East Division, the reigning OCAA silver medalist Durham Lords and the Loyalist Lancers.

The OCAA semi-finals take place on Friday, leading into Saturday's medal matches. The OCAA champion moves on to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Volleyball National Championship in Red Deer, Alta., from Mar. 6-9.

All games are being streamed on OCAA LIVE.

Durham (14-4, 3rd East) vs. Seneca (17-1, 1st East)

Friday, Feb. 23 - 5 p.m.

The Durham Lords handed the Seneca Sting their only regular season loss, winning in three sets back on Nov. 9. Since then, Seneca has won 15 straight, including a rematch with Durham (winning in four sets) and two post-season matches.

Seneca last won an OCAA championship in 1996, the last of a string of seven straight. Alexa Milot (Blackfalds, Alta.) was named as both a Second-Team All-Star and All-Rookie Team member, averaging 1.8 points and 1.18 kills per set.

The Durham Lords have reached the OCAA podium two consecutive seasons with a silver (2023) and bronze (2022). The Lords last OCAA title came in 2002.

Durham's Amanda Larsen (Toronto) is a First-Team All-Star. The third-year middle averaged 3.4 points and 2.00 kills per set in 18 regular season matches.

Loyalist (14-4, 2nd East) vs. Humber (18-0, 1st West)
Friday, Feb. 23 - 7:30 p.m.

The Humber Hawks have won two straight OCAA championships and 13 of the last 15 provincials.

Humber has now won 20 straight matches including a pair of post-season tilts, having only dropped two sets during this stretch. The Hawks have won 35 straight sets in OCAA competition.

Humber features West Division Player of the Year and All-Canadian Erika Dodd (Uxbridge). The third-year left side was among the top players averaging 4.1 points per set on 154 kills, 33 service aces and four blocks for 191 points in 18 regular season matches.

Loyalist is in a rare spot, having never won an OCAA medal. The Lancers rely on East Division Player of the Year and All-Canadian Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen). The fifth-year outside hitter was also among the OCAA statistical leaders averaging 4.3 points per set on 224 kills, 38 service aces and 10 blocks totalling 272 points in 18 regular season matches.
