Panthers remain undefeated

North Bay – The Canadore Panthers men's volleyball team stayed undefeated with a 3-1 (32-30, 25-17, 15-25, 25-19) set win over Loyalist Lancers.

Prior to the start of the Canadore Panthers men's volleyball match up against the Lancers, fourth year graduate Cameron Daniels (North Bay, ON) was honoured with his 2021-22 CCAA All-Canadian banner. Daniels is the first men's volleyball player in school history to receive that honour. Cameron had an outstanding 2022 season and was named to East Division First-Team All-Star, OCAA East Division Player of the Year and CCAA All-Canadian. The celebration wasn't done there, as the Panthers were also honoured with their 2022 East Division Championship plaque, a first as well in Canadore history.

With the first set underway, both teams were eager at the start to gain momentum and set the tone for the match. We saw a very close back-and-forth set but with some keys plays by the Panthers, who eventually took set one with a 32-30 win. With momentum going the Panthers way in the second set, we saw them take a 2-0 set lead with a 25-17 win.

Heading into the third set the Panthers were hoping to finish the match with a 3-0 set win, but the Lancers had other plans and took the third set 25-15. The Panthers went into the fourth set looking to close out the Lancers, led by Steve Bidal (North Bay, ON) 15 kills, 2 blocks, and 17 points the Panthers pulled off the 3-1 victory, with a 25-19 fourth set win.

Next for the Panthers will be on the road to take on Durham Lords Nov. 05 at 8 p.m. and Fleming Knights Nov. 06 at 2 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on OCAA LIVE.
