MEN’S RUGBY WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT TO START SEASON
The Grizzlies continued to dominate play as they move to 4-0 on the season after defeating Mohawk 81-8 on Saturday in Hamilton
The Georgian Grizzlies men's rugby team headed to face the Mohawk Mountaineers on Saturday at the Mohawk Sports Park in Hamilton, ON.
The Grizzlies continued their dominating play this season as they were able get ahead early and not look back in an 81-8 victory.
Nana Ntim (Bradford) continued his excellent play this year leading the team with three tries. James Hulbert (Aurora) has taken the reigns of the Grizzlies kicking game and scored one try and was successful on eight converts.
Brandon Inniss (Toronto) along with last year's OCAA rookie of the year Jake Boulding (Barrie) each posted multi-try games.
Georgian's other tries were scored by Jordan Henstra (Barrie), Donovan Jacko (Brampton), Joshua Michalik (Barrie), Noah Spicer (Aurora), and Liam Wilson (Orillia).
The win gives the Grizzlies a sweep in the season series with the Mountaineers. Georgian has not lost to Mohawk since returning to division one rugby in 2011, a stretch of nine games.
The Grizzlies are now off to a 4-0 start to the regular season as they continue to sit atop the OCAA west division standings.
The Grizziles have two remaining regular season contests. The first of those will be on Oct. 12 when they travel to take on the Seneca Sting.
Georgian will then host their regular season finale on Sunday, Oct. 22 when they take on the Sheridan Bruins, who are currently the only other undefeated team in the west division. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at J.C. Massie Field on the Georgian College Barrie campus. Students can pick up tickets for free in advance at the Athletic Centre and will be available to the public at the door for $5.
