With both teams playing the back-end of weekend doubleheaders the Georgian Grizzlies fell to the nationally ranked La Cite Coyotes 68-59 on Sunday afternoon.
The Grizzlies rode the hot shooting of guards Anthony Meggo and Justin Mitchell to an early six point advantage. The pair combined for eleven points in the first quarter, and after one Georgian trailed the visitors by two. Unfortunately the strong outside shooting wouldn't continue, and at the half the deficit had grown to nine.
The blue and white had several opportunities down the stretch to trim the margin to two possessions but were unable to capitalize. The home side shot just three for fourteen from beyond the arc, while the Coyotes did a good job of keeping Georgian off the glass. La Cite outrebounded the Grizzlies by ten and scored six more second chance points.
Swingman Connor Lardone led the way with fifteen points; Laronde and Glody Madymba combined for seventeen boards. Anthony Meggo finished with nine points, three assists and two steals.
Next up for the Grizzlies is a visit to George Brown on Friday, November 20. Opening tip is set for 6pm.
