Grizzlies Can't Shake Winter Chills Against Panthers
Grizzlies (2-8) fall to the Panthers (8-2) in four sets in the first home game of the winter semester.
What Happened: Georgian's first return to the home court since the start of the new year ended in disappointment as the Grizzlies fell to the visiting Canadore Panthers 3 sets to 1. The Grizzlies put on a solid showing in their first action of the winter semester, keeping pace with the Panthers in the first set until a streak of points from Canadore pushed them to take the set 25-19. The second set proved to be the Grizzlies high point of the night, going nearly point for point with the Panthers in a bout that required extra scoring, resulting in Georgian taking the set 29 - 27. It was downhill in the third and fourth sets for Georgian after the high note end of the second set. The Grizzlies struggle with serve reception difficulties and an aggressive Panther assault proved too overwhelming for Georgian to keep up their momentum, falling in the remaining sets 26 - 16 and 25 - 20 respectively.
Georgian's Lauren Webb provided a strong offence, delivering 12 kills and 2 aces to the Panthers, while Isabella Antonelli provided 6 kills of her own and one ace. On the Panthers' side, Carlie Pappano dished out 11 kills and two aces against Georgian.
