Georgian's Men's Basketball team celebrated Senior's Day in style Sunday afternoon, controlling play from the onset in a 85-65 win over the Canadore Panthers.
Teq Zwarych was dominant on both ends of the court, including several thunderous finishes on the break. The 6'4" power forward finished his day with a team-leading 27 points and 14 rebounds. The Grizzlies attack was balanced, with Justin Mitchell, Connor Laronde, Glody Madymba and Abed Emran all finishing with at least eight points. Wes Jones provided elite rim protection, with five blocks and a half-dozen altered shots to his credit.
With the win Georgian now sits fifth in the Eastern Division, a game up on Seneca. The winner of Tuesday night's regular season finale at Seneca will get the five seed, the loser sixth. Georgian will then visit one of Mohawk, Niagara and Lambton in next weekend's Crossover Game depending on how the week shakes out.
Before the game, six seniors were recognized for their contributions to the program. Zwarych, Mitchell, Madymba , Emran and Lucas and Dylan McKenzie have all been important pieces to Georgian's success this year, and have an opportunity to end their college careers with a bang.
The Grizzlies will close out the season on Tuesday, February 23 when they visit Seneca. Opening tip is scheduled for 8pm.
