BIG WIN OVER ROYALS ADVANCES KNIGHTS TO OCAA CROSS-OVER GAME

February 23, 2020…WELLAND – The Niagara College women's basketball team are headed to the post-season.

After closing out their final home game February 19th to the visiting Redeemer Royals, the Knights 79-49 win sealed up the final OCAA West Division playoff spot and head to Algonquin College (1st, OCAA East) for their playoff cross-over game Feb 29th.

The rare Wednesday night tilt also saw the College recognize the women's three graduating athletes on senior's night, with Francine Smith, Steenika Gilbert and Leanne Dekort recognized for their time spent in the blue and white.

Terin Hultink led the Knights in scoring with 20 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Jessyka Maliksi with 15 points.

Riding the high from Wednesday's win and playoff advancement, the Knights were hoping to close out the regular season with one more W in their final regular season game at Mohawk Feb 22nd.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned for Niagara, ultimately falling 88-59 to the Mountaineers.

NC locked up the 8th and final playoff spot in the West with a 4-14 record.

Saturday's cross-over game in Ottawa will determine who advances to the OCAA Championship March 5-7th at St. Clair College. The Algonquin Thunder finished on top of the OCAA East division this season with an impressive 15-1 record. Saturday's tip-off will be a go for 2:00 P.M., and can be streamed live at the OCAA Live site.
