The Georgian Grizzlies Men's Basketball team will head into the mid-season break hot thanks to a convincing 80-47 win over the visiting Fleming Knights on Sunday afternoon.
The blue and white were in command from the get-go and never let up on a Knights team playing their second game in as many days. Georgian led 20-8 at the end of the first quarter, and that lead had ballooned to a twenty-eight by the half.
The Grizzlies were red-hot from the field, hitting ten three's on forty percent shooting while shooting 53.1% from the floor in the first half. The offensive effort was as balanced as they come, with three Grizzlies hitting double-digits and six with at least seven points.
Leading the way were Glody Madymba and Abed Emran; Madymba's sixteen points paced the home side, while Emran hit a season high four triples. On the glass the duo of Wes Jones and Dylan McKenzie had ten boards apiece, with Jones adding five blocks and protecting the rim all afternoon.
Georgian will look to stay hot when play resumes Wednesday, January 13 against the George Brown Huskies. They should get a huge boost from the return of All-Canadian power forward Teq Zwarych, who has missed all but two games this season. Opening tip is set for 8pm.
