The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team played their first game of the 2016/17 OCAA regular season against the Loyalist Lancers on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
It was a tight back-and-forth match, but in the final minute of the game it was Loyalist who was able to overtake the Grizzlies and defeat Georgian 55-52.
Despite the loss Hannah Pearsall had a strong game for the Grizzlies scoring a team-high 18 points, four rebounds and adding five assists.
Teammate Jessica Stockdale also played well scoring 11 points and registering 13 rebounds.
The Grizzlies won't have long to lick their wounds as they will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host the St. Lawrence – Kingston Vikings at the Georgian Athletic Centre with the game set to start at 1 p.m.
