Knights Thump Panthers in 73-54 Win

January 22, 2023...NORTH BAY - The Niagara Knights men's basketball team secured their second consecutive win this week with a 73-54 thumping of the Canadore College Panthers. The Knights now move to 8-5 on the season, while the Panthers continue to look for their first win of the season.

Fresh off their victory Wednesday night at home against Redeemer, the Knights were looking to keep their winning momentum in the opening quarter of their Sunday afternoon matinee.

Niagara outscored the Panthers 24-11 in the opening frame and eventually closed out the first half with a 46-25 lead.

The Knights continued to pour it on through the third before being outscored by Canadore 15-8 in the fourth.

Leading the way for the Knights was Ethan Alino-DelaCruz with 15 points, and Delroy Grandison with 14.

"This was a nice win on the road," said head coach Phil Mosley. "Our guys were able to establish themselves in the first half and build a comfortable lead by executing on offence and bringing defensive pressure and intensity. We were able to rotate all of our players through the lineup and provide some much-needed rest for some starters."

The Knights will look to keep their win streak alive when they travel to Sheridan Friday night to tip-off against the Sheridan Bruins (8-4) at 8:00pm.
