In a game that they largely controlled down the stretch, the Georgian Grizzlies Men's Basketball team fell to George Brown 72-71 thanks to sloppy late play and a Dejazmatch James jumper with seconds left.
Up seven with just over three minutes remaining, guard Kenny Lewis came down hard on his right elbow and had to leave the game. During his two-minute absence the Huskies trimmed the deficit to one and swung momentum in the process.
The Grizzlies maintained that one point lead with fifteen seconds to go and headed to the stripe. Unfortunately for the home side, they went 0-for-2 from the line, giving James an opportunity he capitalized on. The loss drop's Georgian to 4-7 on the season, still just one game back in the win column of the sixth and final playoff spot.
Georgian's scoring was balanced, with three Grizzlies in double figures and six with at least eight points. All-Canadian Teq Zwarych was solid in his return, tallying 11 points and 15 rebounds on the night. Anthony Meggo chipped in with twelve points to go with three dimes.
The Grizzlies will next host St. Lawrence on Saturday, January 23. Opening tip is set for 3pm.
