WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL OPENS SEASON WITH SWEEP OVER KNIGHTS
Carina Brooks and the Grizzlies opened the season with a 3-0 sweep over the Fleming Knights in Barrie on Friday.
The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team hosted the Fleming Knights to kick-off their 2019-20 OCAA regular season on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
A standing room only crowd was on hand to support the Grizzlies and it was felt on the court.
Georgian were impressive to start the season as they showed excellent chemistry to win the match in three straight sets 3-0 by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-20.
Carina Brooks (Caledon) was excellent in her OCAA debut, as the rookie scored a team high 11 kills and added four aces.
Teammate Sophia Clement (Scarborough) was also on top of her game registering 29 assists and posting 10 digs in the contest.
Both the Grizzlies men's and women's teams will be back in action next Friday, Oct. 25 when they host the Canadore Panthers at the Georgian Athletic Centre. The women's game gets underway at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.
