The Georgian Grizzlies Men's Basketball team wrapped up a perfect weekend Sunday afternoon, avenging an earlier loss to Loyalist with a 82-79 win.
The win moves the Grizzlies into sole possession of the Eastern Division's final playoff spot, just a game back of Seneca for fifth. With visits to the Sting and Algonquin remaining, Georgian will have a chance to continue their push up the standings.
All-Canadian Teq Zwarych had his best game of the year, dominating overmatched Lancers down low all afternoon. Zwarych finished with a team-high 27 points and fourteen boards, despite fouling out with just under seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
Guard Justin Mitchell also wrapped up an impressive couple of days, attacking the rim at will en route to seventeen points, seven rebounds and five assists. With the blue and white holding on down the stretch in Zwarych's absence, Mitchell's calming influence was big.
Power forward Glody Madymba was great on the boards as well, nabbing eleven rebounds and bringing energy from the get go. Madymba chipped in with fourteen points off the bench.
Next up for the Grizzlies is a trip to Durham to take on the Lords on Friday, January 29. Opening tip is set for 8pm.
