Tecumseh, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team took a pair of games Saturday afternoon in mercy fashion over Seneca College (North York) at Lacasse Park by scores of 11-1 and 14-1.
In the first game Saints starting pitcher Micah Harris (Cottam, ON/Essex District) spread out 7 hits and yielded just one run over his six innings of work while striking out 3 batters with only 1 walk. St. Clair's Kevin Dion (Newmarket, ON) along with recent addition Tommy Cheng (Hong Kong, China) each had two hits with Brendan Renaud (Amherstburg, ON/St. Thosas of Villanova) contributing 3 RBI's and a hit. St. Clair fell behind 1-0 in the top of the 1st inning but responded with a pair in the bottom half and never looked back. The Saints added singles in the 2nd and 3rd innings but added 3 in the 5th but capped the mercy with 4 runs in the 6th.
In the second game the Saints put up 8 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and 6 runs in the 3rd inning which was all the scoring they needed. Seneca rallied for a run in the 5th but it was not enough to extend the game. St. Clair starting pitcher Evan Ferguson (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph's) gave up 1 run on 5 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4 batters. Cheng and Dion each had 2 hits again in the game with both scoring 2 runs to pace the Saints offensively with Dion driving in 3 runs.
St. Clair will finish the home stand with a doubleheader against George Brown College (Toronto) on Sunday with game times of 1:00 and 3:00pm at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh.
