Men’s Basketball Top Fanshawe Moving to 4-0

London, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team (4-0) kept the streak alive with an 82-79 squeaker win over Fanshawe College (1-2) in London Wednesday night.  The Saints are currently ranked #2 in Ontario and with the win remain atop the West Division standings.

Fanshawe took a modest 18-16 lead after the first quarter but St. Clair outscored the home team 22-13 in the second for a 38-31 advantage at the break.  The Saints grew that lead to as much as 14 points in the third quarter but Fanshawe responded and only trailed 63-58 heading to the final 10 minutes.  It was nip and tuck from that point forward with Fanshawe retaking the lead on two occasions and for the final time at 75-73 with 3:25 remaining.  But the see saw contest that had 13 lead changes and the teams tied on 8 occasions did not disappoint.  St. Clair used a 9-4 run to close out the game which included a David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, Michigan) layup with 7 seconds remaining to complete the scoring.  The Saints then forced a desperation triple as time expired to preserve the win.

Gomez finished with 23 points to lead the Saints in scoring and added 3 assists.  Glynn Willis-Paris (Detroit, MI/Kennedy Collegiate) made three triples on his way to 15 points to go with 7 rebounds while adding a pair of blocked shots.  Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, MI) also reached double figures with 14 points and cleared 7 boards along with 4 assists.

The St. Clair Men's Basketball team continue their regular season schedule when they travel to Lambton College (Sarnia) on Tuesday.
