Mountaineers lose 70-63 to Condors

The Mountaineers women's basketball team narrowly lost 70-63 to the Conestoga Condors to drop to 3-3 on the regular season.

Mohawk fell behind in the opening quarter 17-9, but battled back in the second to make it a four-point game at the half.

In the third quarter, Conestoga took control by outscoring the Mountaineers 23-13.

Mohawk looked to make a comeback in the fourth quarter, but came up just short.

Lauren Snider (Brantford, ON) led the Mountaineers with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Celina Chung (Oakville, ON) was one point short of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds, while Tianna Stys (St. Catharines, ON) added 10 points and three blocks.

Mohawk was outrebounded 69-59 in the contest.

Prior to the game the Mountaineers celebrated their graduating athletes Theresa Wylie (Kitchener, ON) and Brooke Turner (Blenheim, ON).

The Mountaineers will next play on Mar. 4 as they travel to play the St. Clair Saints at 6 p.m.
