Women’s Basketball Top Lambton

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team earned a 61-49 homecourt win over Lambton College (Sarnia) at the SportsPlex Wednesday night pushing their OCAA West Division 3rd Place record to 11-3 with just four games remaining before hosting the Provincial Championship tournament Mar. 6-8.

The Saints used some hot shooting early to stake themselves to a 24-16 lead after the opening quarter but cooled off considerably the rest of the game.  St. Clair enjoyed a 38-26 advantage by halftime, but Lambton held them to just six points in the third quarter and trailed 44-40 entering the final frame.  The Saints used an 11-0 run to start the fourth and put the game out of reach leading by as much as 17 points down the stretch. 

Saints 3rd year guard Jana Kucera (Chatham, ON) led her team with 12 points adding 6 rebounds.  Anna Ulicny (Tecumseh, ON/St. Anne) and Nicole Tamm (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) each also reached double figures with 11 points for St. Clair.  Tamm filled her stat line with 13 rebounds for the double-double to go with 6 assists and 4 blocked shots. 

St. Clair held Lambton to just 23% shooting from the field and scored 24 points in the paint while surrendering just 12 to the visitors. 

Morgan Wagg (London, ON) scored a game high 17 points for Lambton in the loss. 

St. Clair will wait until Feb. 15th for the next contest when they host Sheridan College (Brampton) at the SportsPlex.
