Men’s Basketball 9-2 at the Break

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team finished off their first semester schedule with a 99-88 victory over Conestoga College (Kitchener) at the SportsPlex Saturday afternoon.  The Saints will carry a 9-2 record into the holiday break which nearly matches their win total from last season with nine games remaining on their schedule. 

St. Clair was deadly shooting the ball in the first quarter converting 56% from the field and 63% from distance on their way to a 26-13 lead heading to the second frame.  Conestoga made inroads before halftime but still trailed 49-41 at the intermission.  The Saints grew their advantage to as much as 19 points in the third quarter and didn't allow the visitors in the game down the stretch.  An overall good shooting night saw the Saints hit 48% from the floor and 40% from beyond the 3-point arc with 12 makes in all. 

St. Clair's David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, Michigan) led four Saints in double figures scoring a game high 28 points.  Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) had 16 points followed by Glynn Willis-Paris (Detroit, MI/Kennedy Collegiate) with 14 points to go with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks for the Saints.  Miles Hall (Toronto, ON) chipped in with 13 points while Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, Michigan) dished out 7 assists for St. Clair adding 5 points and 4 rebounds.

Conestoga's Stefan Simic (Kitchener, ON) scored 25 points including 10 for 10 at the stripe in a losing effort.   

Following the new year, the St. Clair Men's Basketball team will travel to the George Brown Tournament in Toronto Jan. 3-4.  In a matchup of first place tied teams the Saints will resume their regular season schedule Jan. 17th when they host Fanshawe College (London).
