SUDBURY, ON - The Lady Lions got off to a good start to the season, opening with two wins over a much-improved Cambrian Golden Shield. Friday's game was a 64-52 victory for the Lions. The second game was a much closer affair with the Lions trailing at half and holding a slim one point lead going into the fourth quarter. They were able to pull away and hold on for an 8 point victory, 68-60. Fleischer had a great second half, notching her second double-double of the young season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Van Leerzen was solid on the boards again with 15 rebounds. Newcomers Tianna Marshell, Lindsay Graham, and Morgan Campbell added some offensive punch, while second year player Maddi Basso was a defensive standout.

"It was great to build confidence early in the season.", said Campbell. " We have a bunch of first years playing in the OCAA for the first time and the good start helps to get their feet wet. We learned a lot from these games, our strengths and our weaknesses, so we can get better from here. St. Clair is going to be tough on Friday, it will be a good experience for the team"

The Lions travel to Windsor on Friday for a game with St. Clair College.
