Men’s Basketball Remain Unbeaten in Sarnia

Sarnia, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team moved to 5-0 on the season with a come from behind 91-85 win over Lambton College (3-3) in Sarnia Tuesday night.  The Saints remain ranked #2 in Ontario and entered the National rankings at #11 for the first time this season while leading the OCAA West Division standings.

St. Clair made four triples in the first quarter including three long balls from Jesiah Deerr (Whitby, ON) but were still behind 26-18 after the opening quarter.  Lambton took a 10-point lead early in the second quarter, but the Saints battled back to within 45-43 by halftime.  Lambton pushed their lead to 68-60 entering the fourth quarter and enjoyed their largest early in the frame of 11 points.  St. Clair clawed their way back due in large part to the play of 3rd year forward Glynn Willis-Paris (Detroit, MI/Kennedy Collegiate) who was 3 for 3 from deep and scored 11 of his 18 points down the stretch.  As a team St. Clair shot 68% from the floor in the fourth quarter and 56% from 3-point land.  The Saints also outrebounded Lambton 49-38 in the game.

Saints point guard David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, MI) led all scorers with 32 points adding 3 assists.  Willis-Paris nearly recorded a double-double with 9 rebounds for St. Clair with Jalen Harmon (Ypsilanti, MI) also clearing 10 boards along with 4 assists to go with 6 points.  Deerr finished with 17 points for the Saints with rookie Jerry Mercury (Toronto, ON) pulling down 11 rebounds to go with 7 points.

The St. Clair Men's Basketball team are next in action at home Nov. 16th and 17th for a pair of games against Sault College (Sault Ste. Marie).
