Women's Volleyball Take Down Mohawk

Windsor, ON - The St. Clair women's volleyball team continued their second semester OCAA regular season schedule at home on Saturday evening and came away with a hard fought 3-1 win over the Mohawk College Mountaineers (Hamilton).

Set scores for St. Clair were 22-25, 25-14, 25-22, and 25-18. St. Clair was led by 3rd year outside hitter Shalena Horst (Dutton; West Elgin) with 9 kills, 2 stuff blocks, 1 service ace, 1 assist and 13 digs. Rookie outside hitter Chantal DeVlugt  (Wyoming; LCCVI) also had a big game with 12 kills, 1 stuff block and 5 digs. Rookie middle Keyome Ellis (Toronto; Jean Vanier Catholic) also had a solid game with 8 kills, 1 service ace, 3 stuff blocks and 2 digs. Libero Julie Ann Milling (Woodstock; Woodstock Collegiate Institute) had a great game with 2 assists and 26 digs.

With the win, St. Clair improved to 10-3 while Mohawk fell to 8-6. The Saints are currently ranked 4th  in Ontario while the Mountaineers are ranked 6th.

The Saints are next in action at home at the Sportsplex on Wednesday, January 29th  at 6 pm against the Fanshawe Falcons. Fanshawe is currently 13-0 and are ranked 1st in Ontario and 4th in Canada. This match will be fan appreciation night which includes free admission for all fans along with many great prizes and giveaways. It is also Bell Let's Talk night to raise money and awareness for mental health.
