Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball won their fourth straight game to begin the season after defeating the Redeemer Royals 108-88.

Both teams found themselves in a close contest at half with the Mountaineers leading by six, but Daniel Graham (Hamilton, ON) scored 15 of his career-high 28 in the second half to lift Mohawk to victory.

Head coach Brian Jonker said the success is coming from an overall team-effort.

"I think we play very well as a team," Jonker said. "We are getting contributions from so many people that it is impossible to play badly. The guys like to play with each other and that contributes to our game."

Jerry Jr. Mercury (Scarborough, ON) provided a 21-point performance to go along with nine rebounds. Stefan Anisko (Haldimand County, ON) continued to have an impressive start to his OCAA career, scoring 18.

A total of five Mountaineers scored in double digits, as Rommel Calura (Hamilton, ON) and Milos Mladjan (Hamilton, ON) came off the bench to score 14 and 10, respectively.

Jonker said that despite the team's good performance, there is still room for improvement.

"Next games are on the road, and they are going to be challenging," Jonker explained. "Today we had some defensive breakdowns that we have to clean up, so we need to train as a team and be ready for the next games."

The Mountaineers head to Sarnia, ON to play the Lambton Lions on Nov. 12 with tip-off at 8 p.m.
