The Lancers dropped their first game back at home Friday night to the first place Durham Lords. Trailing by 8 after the first quarter, the Lancers made a comeback part way through the second to tie the game at 27. The Lords scored next to retake the lead but veteran Lancer Maleek Ekumba Quinta came through with a big three to bring the game back within 1. The home team outscored the Lords 26-19 in the second to trail by 1 at the half.
The third quarter saw the Lancers get back in the lead when second year Katrel Johnson converted a defensive rebound to a layup to go up 46-45. The Lords regained control late in the quarter to retake and then extend their lead to 72-61. Both teams battled hard for the final 10 minutes, but the Lancers couldn't overcome the Lords' lead and fell 95-84.
Johnson led the scoring for the Lancers with 19 points, 9 rebounds and two steals while first year, Jayden Jack scored a season high 15 points with 6 steals.
The Lancers are back in action Friday January 20th when they host the Algonquin Thuder at 8 PM.
