Men's Soccer Improve to 4-2

The St. Clair College men's varsity soccer team continued their OCAA regular season home schedule on Friday night at the Libro Centre in Amherstburg.

The Saints came away with a convincing 5-0 victory over the Mohawk Mountaineers in brutal wet and windy conditions. The Saints went up 1-0 in the 27th minute on a nice strike by Massimo Pollard (Windsor; Holy Names).  Korede Adepitan (Etobicoke) put St. Clair up 3-0 scoring in  the 34th and 37th minutes. The Saints controlled the play for most of the 1st half with a 13-11 edge in shot attempts but had 9 on goal compared to 3 for Mohawk.

The 2nd half was fairly evenly played until Bastien Aguilera (Chile) scored on a nice free kick in the 88th minute. Pollard scored the final goal in the 90th minute. Saints keeper Haiden Gelinas (Windsor; St. Joseph's) had a solid game in goal making a couple big saves in turning aside all 6 shots he faced to earn the clean sheet.

Heading into the match St. Clair was ranked 8th in the OCAA. With the win the Saints improved to 4-2 while Mohawk fell to 1-4.

The Saints are next in action on Saturday, October 5th when they travel to Kitchener to take on the Conestoga Condors.
