With the teams looking to find their rhythm, the scoreboard was knotted at 12 by the midway point of the first quarter. Although both sides started to look shaky as the opening frame drew to a close, Fanshawe took a slight two-point lead into the second quarter.

The teams traded points to start the second frame. It wasn't until three minutes into the quarter that Dwayne Lambert-Cadore drained a bucket in tight to give Humber its first lead of the contest. That ignited the Hawks as they went on a 10-3 run, which put them ahead by nine. Fanshawe quickly responded with two triples, but a lengthy five-point possession put Humber back in the driver's seat. By the end of the first half, Hawks' fans were on their feet as Humber had an 8-point cushion over the Falcons.

At halftime, the Hawks shot 15-of-34 (44.1 per cent) from the floor and drilled four shots from beyond the arc. Humber made 8-of-13 (61.5 per cent) free throws and led Fanshawe 13-0 in bench points. The Hawks also outrebounded their opponents and forced more turnovers, leading to nine points in favour of the home side.

The Falcons kicked off the second half on a 5-0 run, which brought them to within one possession of tying the game. As the tempo of the game slowed, points were harder to come by, but Humber regained a six-point lead by the midway point of the third quarter. Fanshawe quickly flipped the script in the dying moments of the quarter as they trimmed Humber's lead down to as much as two points. The resilient Hawks stayed composed and managed to bring a four-point lead into the final frame.

The fans at the Hawks' Nest knew their team needed motivation to end to close out the game strong and secure their first win since September. With Humber supporters cheering loudly, the Hawks jumped out to their biggest lead of the game after a 10-3 run early in the fourth quarter. The Hawks' 11-point advantage was short-lived as a three-ball from Fanshawe gave them some life. Fanshawe threatened to come back late in the game; however, the Hawks held on to secure their seventh win of the season.
